Hello:
It is very sad that the palces of worship of minority communities have been target of hate crime. Recent shooting and killing at the Sikh Temple, and burning a mosque in Joplin, Missouri, USA are few examples. We must stand together as people of conscience and condemn those who spread hate.
We should help and support each other to fight these type of hate crimes. This will bring us together to be a stronger community. So, lets stand together united irrespective of our color, race or even religion.
We are your neighbors in Lawrenceville (Islamic community at 336 Lawrence Station Road), and many of our members will be there tonight to show our support. Since it is our month of fasting with special nightly prayers, we will be able to be there before 8 PM.
Thanks
Iffaaz

I join in your sorrow and prayers for the heinous crimes against the Sihk community, and for all of us affected by such hateful acts. The Sihk community has been present in Lawrence Township for many years, and continues to grow; hence, the beautiful place of worship built in the Township.
Although I may not be able to attend the services, my heart and my mind and my prayers will be present. Whatever deity we workship, we should be brothers and sisters in our global community.
The sorrow is not only of the Sihk community, but of any and all of us that believe in the equality of races and our freedom of worship in this great country of ours.
May we all go forward in peace, I pray.

Hello. I really wish I knew about the Candlelight vigil sooner as I would have loved to come and join and show my support. I am American and grew up in Nairobi, Kenya where I spent a good amount of time amongst Sikhs. I have fond memories of stopping at a prominent Sikh gurdwara between Nairobi and Mombasa for a meal and they always welcomed us open arms like family. I was devastated when I heard about the shooting in Wisconsin to hear that such a loving people was so shamefully attacked. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am sorry I missed the candlelight vigil on August 7th. I would have liked to have attended the event.
I am not a religious person. I don’t know much about the Sikh religion, but I have been impressed by what representatives of the Sikh community have said about their history, their core principles and their service to community since this tragic shooting took place.
Their should be more education about the various religions and ethnic communities that comprise our society so that people are not so ignorant. Maybe then people will not act out of fear or prejudice or ignorance and be easily influenced by hate groups.
When people see each other as human beings and not “the other” there will be less violence and less fear.

Special Agent In Charge (SAC) Michael B. Ward of the FBI’s Newark Division and Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, Edward Dickson will be visiting Sikh Sabha of New Jersey on Sunday August 19th to address the sangat and for a question and answer session about our community’s security especially after the vicious hate crime in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. We are inviting the sangat and communities from all the local Gruudwara Sahib’s and respective places of worship to join for the Q&A session.
