The 2009 Sikh Games will be held on July 18th and 19th. Starting this upcoming Sunday – June 7th we will begin practices for both boys and girls of all age groups. Weather permitting, practices will be held every Sunday after langar from 2:45 to 5pm at Mercer County Park which is about 2.5 miles away from Gurudwara Sahib.
Attached please find a registration form that must be filled out for children and adults to participate. Along with the registration and medical forms – each participant must provide a valid photo ID at the games prior to each event (including prior to every game or track event). All forms must be handed in by Sunday June 21st. Forms can be given to myself, Sachdeep Singh, or a Board of Director Member that is present at account table at Gurudwara. (Forms are available at gurudwara and are posted in the right hand side column of this website.
This year we will be charging a $15 fee per child to help subsidize the cost for Gurudwara Sahib. However, children under 6 who are participating in track events are allowed to participate at no charge but must register. Any adults playing in the 19 and above year old teams – are responsible for funding their own team which is $200 per team. (Receipts are available if necessary)
We have a dedicated group of Sewadaars that have worked out schedules to make sure that children will be under supervision and coached at every practice. This group of Sewdaars/Coaches will be posted on the website as well, however, if you are interested in helping out with practices, providing water/Gatorade to practices or any other support, please do not hesitate to contact the current group of coaches.
The primary focus for our Gurudwara will be track, volleyball and basketball, however, if you are interested in soccer please mark it down and we will see if we can get enough children to play.
We look forward to building on the great success we had last year in representing gurudwara sahib in the sporting events and values of sportsmanship when playing together and against others.
Hope to see you Sunday at Practice!
